The talented Reka

James Reka or “Reka” as he is known, is the famous self-taught Melbourne graffiti artist, with influences in pop culture, cartoons and illustration.

Since 2002, Reka has established himself as a leader of the new street art scene that has flourished in recent years, due to the growing interest in this relatively new art form.

His work has received praise in Melbourne, interstate and overseas, and has recently been acquisitioned by the National Gallery of Australia for their permanent collection. Over the years his art has curated numerous shows focusing on supporting Australian and International artists.

These are just a few of his older original pieces. I’ll post more of his stuff as it comes 🙂

Banksy

“Imagine a city where graffiti wasn’t illegal, a city where everybody draw whatever they liked. Where every street was awash with a million colours and little phrases. Where standing at a bus stop was never boring. A city that felt like a party where everyone was invited, not just the estate agents and barons of big business. Imagine a city like that and stop leaning against the wall – it’s wet. ”
– Banksy (Wall and Piece)

One of my favourite artists of all time, Banksy is internationally known as one of the best street artists today. Controversial,  humorous, captivating. I have followed him for a couple of years now, and I’ve seen him grow in talent and popularity. Nobody knows his true identity because he isn’t in this business to make money, or to become famous. He stands behind his morales and stays true to his art. That’s what true art is…

Riotcoppers – Banksy

I’ll try to put as much of his work up as I can. This is just one of my favourites. You can see why 🙂
